
Created by Ted Kilgore at Planter’s House in St. Louis, this cocktail incorporates tea, lemon, and honey for a balanced flavor experience. It was designed to be pre-mixed and carried along in a Thermos—perfect for outdoor adventures or serving a crowd at a tailgate.
INGREDIENTS
- 7½ oz. rye, bourbon, or scotch
- 3¾ oz. lemon juice
- 3¾ oz. chamomile honey syrup (see below)
- 3¾ oz. cold water
- 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
DIRECTIONS
Mix all ingredients together. Chill in refrigerator for 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Pour into Thermos and top with ice.
Chamomile Honey Syrup: brew 5 oz. strong chamomile tea. Strain off and, while still hot, add 5 oz. honey. Stir until blended. Store in refrigerator.
