Whiskey Mulberry Shrub [Cocktail Recipe]

This refreshing bramble-style swizzle, created by Mitch Bushell, combines Maker’s Mark with fruit flavors.


  • 1⅔ oz. Maker’s Mark
  • 1 oz. Shih-chuan mulberry vinegar
  • ½ oz. St. Germain liqueur
  • 1 dash simple syrup
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters


Swizzle all ingredients on crushed ice and garnish with pickled blackberries.

For Pickled Blackberries:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • thyme stalks
  • blackberries

Bring sugar and vinegar to simmer with a couple stalks of thyme. Allow to cool then combine with blackberries for no less than 30 days.
