
This Old Fashioned variation incorporates a touch of absinthe. Created by Nick Bennett of New York City’s Porchlight, the original recipe likely debuted in Crosby Gaige’s 1940s-era “Cocktail Guide and Ladies’ Companion.”
INGREDIENTS
- 2½ oz Elijah Craig bourbon
- ¼ oz simple syrup
- 1 dash absinthe
- 1 dash orange bitters
- 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
- Garnish: lemon twist
DIRECTIONS
Build all the ingredients in a mixing glass and give a quick stir. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish with a lemon twist.
