Although it’s possible and not uncommon to bottle a single barrel, most whiskey that’s put in a bottle is the result of blending multiple barrels together. Christian Krogstad, master distiller at House Spirits Distillery, makes Westward single malt. The whiskey used to be a single barrel product, but Krogstad eventually transitioned it into a blend of multiple barrels. He explains why he made that decision, and what impact it has on the flavor.
