Mike’s love for craft beer started in 2008. After years exploring different breweries and enjoying all their great beers, he took his passion to work in the beer industry. Mike joined Goose Island’s Marketing Brand Team in 2014 and oversaw the Bourbon County Stout and Vintage brands. During this time he helped launch Bourbon County Stout nationally and produced the documentary, “Grit & Grain: The Story of Bourbon County Stout.” In 2016 he moved into managing the national releases of national Goose Island beer brands. Seeking new experiences, last year Mike joined the Goose Island Education Team overseeing the brewery’s education programs and is the ambassador for their renowned beer barrel aging program. Mike also supports the brand management of the Bourbon County Brand Stout program, leading the 2018 Bourbon County Reserve launch, trailblazing the boundaries where beer and bourbon can go. Smith recently authored “Grit & Grain” (November 2018, Raymond Press, Chicago, IL), is a Certified Cicerone, Certified Cedar Professional and Certified Executive Bourbon Steward.
