WhiskyFest Speaker Johnnie Mundell

Johnnie Mundell

Heritage Manager  |  Maker’s Mark
Johnnie Mundell is a proud father of three daughters and coach of the Hermosa Beach Youth Female All-Star Soccer team.  When not molding the next generation of talent for the pitch, Johnnie spreads the gossip of good whisky on the West Coast of the United States.

A multi-year finalist for Brand Ambassador of the Year (Spirited Awards, Tales of The Cocktail),  Mr. Mundell was an early evangelist for the Morrison-Bowmore whisky portfolio,  helping to introduce Islay whisky to new fans one Bowmore Oyster luge at a time.  Pivoting from his native spirit, Johnnie “The Scot” — as he’s come to be lovingly known — became the West Coast Ambassador for House of Suntory in 2015, guarding the legacy of some of the world’s most coveted distillates.

Thoughout his career Johnnie has cultivated a tremendous interest in oak maturation and finishing, which led him to joining Maker’s Mark as the West Coast Heritage Manager, in January 2019, overseeing all distillery diplomats for the Western division of the United States. In this new role, he continues to shape the conversation around great whisky–while also lending his ample experience and knowledge of the category to his Maker Mark Diplomat team.
