Vecchio Amico [Cocktail Recipe]

“The addition of Braulio amaro and Yzaguirre Blanco vermouth keeps this cocktail bright, bitter, and bold, while the Chinato relaxes the palate to a smooth, clean finish,” Brock Schulte, bar director at The Monarch Barin Kansas City, MO and creator of this cocktail says. “Spritzing the lemon through the cocktail as it is poured allows the citrus essence to shine without seeming too oily.”

INGREDIENTS

• 1 oz. Rittenhouse rye (or other rye whisky)
• 1 oz. Braulio amaro
• ½ oz. Montanaro Barolo Chinato fortified wine
• ½ oz. Yzaguirre Blanco vermouth
• Lemon peel

DIRECTIONS

Stir all ingredients with ice until chilled. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over one large ice cube while spritzing the lemon peel’s oil through the stream.
