
Need an eye-opener? Try this mix of Basil Hayden’s rye and cold brew coffee, rounded out with a touch of absinthe and some chocolate bitters. This recipe was created on behalf of Basil Hayden’s by Frank Liotti of Freemans in New York City.
INGREDIENTS
- Absinthe
- 2 oz. Basil Hayden’s rye
- ½ oz. cold brew coffee
- ½ oz. simple syrup
- 2 dashes chocolate bitters
- Garnish: ground nutmeg
DIRECTIONS
Fill a rocks glass with ice and rinse with absinthe, then discard. Combine rye, coffee, simple syrup, and bitters in a mixing glass with ice and stir until cold. Strain into the rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish with grated nutmeg.
